| The Department of Animal Science, Palli Siksha Bhavana, Visva-Bharati, organized a Three-Day National Workshop on “Application of Indian Knowledge Systems for Sustainable Livestock Farming” from December 17 to 19, 2025. The workshop focused on integrating Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) with modern scientific practices to promote sustainable, climate-resilient livestock and poultry farming. A total of 40 participants, including progressive farmers and students from West Bengal, Bihar, Rajasthan, Kerala, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and one international participant from Bangladesh, attended the programme. The sessions covered topics such as integrated farming systems, indigenous livestock breeds, traditional feeding and breeding practices, disease management, and sustainable manure management. The programme also included hands-on practical training and field visits to Rathindra Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the Agricultural Farm of Palli Siksha Bhavana. The workshop concluded with a valedictory session, highlighting the importance of Indian Knowledge Systems in achieving sustainable livestock development. | |
