Horticulture and Post Harvest Technology

The Department of Horticulture and Post-Harvest Technology organized a Farmers’ Training Programme entitled “Planting and caring of Young Fruit Plants” at Nimbuni Village of Choupahari Jungle, Illambazar Block, Birbhum on 30th July, 2026 (Thursday). The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers and farm women belonging to the scheduled tribe community from Nimbuni, Amkhoi, Daronda, Jambuni, Laxmipur, and Senkapur villages. Village coordinators, faculty members and students of the department also actively participated in the event. During the programme, the faculty members delivered informative lectures and conducted hands-on demonstrations on planting and caring for young fruit plants. To encourage the adoption of improved horticultural practices, saplings of various fruit plants along with training materials were distributed to each participating tribal woman. The training programme was conducted successfully and received an overwhelming response from the participants, who highly appreciated the practical demonstrations and the distribution of quality planting materials.
