AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION

About the Department

The Department of Agricultural Extension was created by bifurcating the erstwhile composite Department of Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics & Agricultural Statistics into two departments, namely, the Department of Agricultural Extension and the Department of Agricultural Economics & Agricultural Statistics, during 2016. The department offers eight courses in B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme of the Bhavana. It also offers two-year M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agricultural Extension Education and Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension Education programmes. A good number of students of the department succeed in ICAR-JRF, ICAR-SRF, ICAR-NET, and UGC-NET examinations. The department implemented and completed three externally funded research projects and conducted field demonstrations on vegetables, pulses and oilseed crops, respectively.

Prof. Souvik Ghosh is conferred with Dr. O.P. Dahama Memorial Award 2022-23.

Prof. Souvik Ghosh has been conferred the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), New Delhi Fellowship 2025.

Prof. Souvik Ghosh has been conferred the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology (WAST), Kolkata Fellowship 2025.

Dr. (Ms.) A. Saha received the Women Scientist Award in Agricultural Extension at the 9th International Conference on GRISAAS-2024 from 10-12 December, 2024, at SKNAU-RARI, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
