Academic qualification:
• B. Sc. (Ag.) Hons. from University of Kalyani (currently BCKV) and M. Sc. (Ag.) in Horticulture(Floriculture) 
• Ph.D. in Horticulture (Medicinal & Aromatic Crops) from University of Calcutta under the guidance of Prof. S. K. Mukherjee, D.Sc., Ex- Head, Division of Horticulture, IARI, New Delhi and Khaira Professor of Agriculture, Calcutta University 

Administration:
• Long experience as HOD (for more than nine years) and also as Vice-Principal (Associate Dean) and presently serving as Dean of Institute of Agriculture, Visva-Bharati

International Exposure:
• Apart from numerous National Seminars attended/organized, also participated several International Conferences in many countries all over the world.

International Assignment:
• Associated with FAO sponsored All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, organized “Vitamin A malnutrition eradication programme” for the people of Purulia (W.B.) by using A Vitamin enriched vegetables.

Innovation and achievement in education:
• Aactively involved in the design and modification of B. Sc., M. Sc. and Ph. D. courses in Horticulture. Was instrumental in opening and developing of Postgraduate courses in Horticulture at Visva-Bharati as the then HOD.

Research profile:
• Fifteen students are already awarded Ph.D. degree in different aspects on fruits, vegetables, flowers, plantation crop including medicinal & aromatic plants. Presently four candidates are working. 
• Adjudicated Ph. D. thesis as external examiner of other Universities in India and Abroad. 
• Awarded seven major externally funded research projects sponsored by Central and State Govt. agencies including private companies as Principal Investigator. 
      a. National Horticulture Board, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India sponsored Project on medicinal & aromatic plants. 
      b. Directorate of Food Processing Industries & Horticulture, Govt. of West-Bengal sponsored Project on Integrated Nutrient Management of Vegetable crops and establishment of model nursery on medicinal plants. 
      c. Krishi Rasayan Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata sponsored Projects (3 Nos.) on increasing marketable yield of selected vegetable crops & mango & one from Coromandel International, A.P. for collaborative trial program for slow releasing micro nutrients. 
      d. Establishment of model nursery for medicinal plants under National Mission on Medicinal Plants, Govt., of India. 
• National level collaborations have been made with different Universities (like C.A.U. Imphal; O.U.A.T. Bhubaneswer; Calcutta University; Jadavpur University; B.C.K.V., Kerala Agricultural University and Central Govt. Institutions like IIT Kharagpur, ICAR Ranchi etc.) to promote meaningful linkage in research activities as a faculty member of a Central University like Visva Bharati. 
• Published a large number (more than 120) of research papers/ book chapters/ articles etc. including two books. 

Teaching:
• Offering both basic & advance courses in all major aspects of the subject horticulture under UG, M. Sc. and Ph. D programmes.

Extension:
• Actively involved in extension work of the Institute for implementing transfer of technology programme since joining Visva-Bharati. This includes organizing students and farmers in undertaking extension programme, radio programme, T. V. programme etc., preparing extension literature and also participating in various training programmes (organized by KVK, IFFCO, NABARD, Government of West Bengal, N.G.O etc.) with special reference to Agriculture and allied sciences.
