B.P. ED. COURSE (Course Code: BPD, Subject Code: 805) (As per NCTE Norm)
I. Eligibility Criteria: a. Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education as an elective subject with 50% Marks. Or b. Bachelor’s Degree with Physical Education as an elective subject with 45% Marks and participation in National or State or Inter University competition in Sports or Games or Athletics recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) or Indian Olympic Association (IOA). Or c. Bachelor’s Degree with 45% Marks and having participated in National/ State/ Inter- University sports or games or athletics recognized by AIU or IOA. Note: Reservation of seats for SC, ST and OBC categories shall be in accordance with the Central Govt. rules and relaxation of five percent marks in eligibility qualification shall be allowed to candidates belonging to those categories. There shall be no provision for direct admission/internal quota and reservation for physically handicapped candidates.
II. Important date, time and venue of admission test (tentative) 1. Venue of all events: Department of Physical Education, Physical Education Complex, Vinaya Bhavana, Santiniketan 2. Reporting Date & Time: 30.06.2012 at 06:00 Hrs. 3. Entrance Test: 30.06.2012 at 08:00 Hrs & 01.07.2012 at 06:30 Hrs.
III. Modalities of Admission: Admission shall be made on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the Entrance Test with due weightage for physical fitness /and other proficiency. 1. Admission will be made in order of merit on the basis of entrance test 2. Rankings in entrance test will be made out of 100 marks 3. Minimum qualifying marks in the entrance test will qualify a candidate to be included in the ranking of the scores. 4. Distribution of marks in entrance test (100 marks) will be made on the basis of: (A) Performance test (candidates to appear at their own responsibility and in sports attires): 60 Marks (i) Physical Fitness (40 Marks); (ii) Motor Skill Test (20 Marks) (B)Written Test (20 Marks) (C) Academics (10 Marks) (D) Sports Achievements- (10 Marks) 4. Current medical fitness certificate will have to be submitted for appearing in physical performance tests.
IV. Admission Procedure: A. Performance Test: 60 marks 59 (i) Physical Fitness Test: (40 marks) Test Items: (a) 50mts Dash (b) Standing Broad Jump (c) 4 X 10 mts Shuttle Run and (d) 600 mts Run. (ii) Motor Skill events (one to be opted): (20 marks): Athletics/Basketball/Cricket/Football/Gymnastics/Table- Tennis/Volleyball/Badminton/ Khokho/ Kabaddi/ Tennis/ Weight-Lifting/Hockey B. Written Test (in English): 20 marks (i) Comprehension test / Paragraph writing. (ii) Objective Tests related to General Knowledge on Games and Sports. C. Academics: 10 marks. Percentage of marks obtained in Graduation Examination will be converted out of 10. D. Sports Achievements – 10 marks For representing the Nation: 10 marks For representing the State: 07 marks For representing the University: 05 marks For representing the District: 03 marks Note: i) Only highest representation will be considered for awarding marks. ii) Sports performance during preceding five years (including current year) will be considered.
V. Reservation: Reservation for OBC, SC & ST candidates will be made as per Government of India rules. Physically handicapped candidates of all categories will not be considered for admission. There shall be no provision for direct admission/internal quota.
