MATHEMATICS

The Department of Mathematics is the oldest department under Siksha-Bhavana (Institute of Science). It was established in 1961 with the introduction of B. A./ B. Sc. (Honours ) programme in Mathematics. Later in 1963, two-year M. A./M. Sc. programme in Mathematics was started in the department along with the regular Ph. D. programme. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has brought the Department under its Special Assistance Programme (SAP) – DRS-Phase-III (2015-2020). Since its inception in 1961, the department has more than three thousand alumni. They are a key stake-holder in the evolution and growth of the Department. We plan to initiate a lifelong involvement with all students who will continue to be a part of Visva-Bharati community even after their graduation. The department, on the other hand, welcomes alumni visit to their department, interaction with students and faculty and possible articipation in academic activities of the department.
